Casting Call Information: Estrogenious Festival 2009

All Estrogen auditions will be held at Manhattan Theater Source (177
MacDonald, NYC 10011).
Scripts for the various plays can be found and read at the Manhattan
Theater Source.

Manhattan Theater Source’s Estrogen Festival, an annual celebration
of female voices, is one of New York City’s largest women’s arts
festivals.

The festival debuted with a program of 10 short plays and music. Since
then, it has grown into a five-week event including short plays, solo
shows, music, visual art, dance, teen performances and support for
African girls’ education.

larger than the others.

Mrs. Whole wig: A refined Englishwoman, late 30’s-40’s.

Mrs. Salvadorean: A refined Englishwoman, mid-to-late 30’s. The most
glamorous.

Mrs. Peacock: A refined Englishwoman, late 30’s-40’s.

Pillar: 50-65, Latina A woman who is looking for her son whom she
assumes has disappeared because of the present military regime and the
current political upheaval.

General: 50-65 Latino, A man steeped in the present military regime.

The Gift of Maggie’s by: Bette Sile

Maggie: 60s/70s, slender/frail, wheelchair bound. Maggie is an
innocent, an optimist and a spiritual soul.

Mara: -60’s/70s, preferably heavy, Jewish. Mara is a skeptic with a
quick sense of humor; bitter, secretive.
